Private aerospace company Virgin Galactic has announced the transfer of its space vehicles and space personnel to the company's Spaceport America destination. Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson announced the following change on Friday: "New Mexico has kept its promise to build a world-class first spaceport and a world-class spaceport." Change will take place during the summer .
Approximately 100 staff members will move from their current headquarters in Mojave, California to the Spaceport America, New Mexico, commercial operations headquarters. Virgin Galactic indicates that this process has already begun and will run during the summer to avoid disrupting families during the school year. The transition marks the 'final countdown' until the beginning of the regular commercial space flight service, according to the company.

Virgin Galactic had previously partnered with New Mexico to develop a commercial spaceport, the first in the world. "Today," said Sir Richard Branson in his statement, "I could not be more pleased to announce that in return, we are now ready to offer New Mexico a first line space world. "
With this change, New Mexico will officially become the first destination on the planet to host a regular commercial space flight service. Virgin Galactic plans to offer people space travel, as well as space search payloads.
The move to Spaceport America is the last important step for the company. By the end of February, Virgin Galactic's VSS Unity had reached its first market after its major flight in December 2018. The company recently partnered with Under Armor to develop new clothing for future trips.
