“I want to explain by complications that his heart has just given up. Our daughter was in perfect health, ”wrote Nicole Sperry. “And would have continued to be here if people had stopped sending their sick children to school.”

Teresa first showed symptoms of COVID on September 22 and her parents took her to a local hospital, CNN reported. She died on September 27. A positive test confirming the diagnosis returned after his death.

Suffolk Public Schools, which includes Hillpoint Elementary School, are investigating Nicole’s account that her daughter was a “classroom nurse,” according to the Virginian-Pilot. District policy is that adults, not children, accompany sick children to the nurse’s office.

It is not known exactly how Teresa was exposed to the virus. The Virginia health department is trying to trace the contacts.

After Teresa’s death, her father, Jeff, tested positive despite his vaccination.

“Do you want to know what you can do to honor my lovely daughter?” Nicole Sperry wrote on Facebook. “Wear a fucking mask!” To get vaccinated! Social distance! Most importantly, stop complaining and keep your sick kids at home. Because in the end, you can still kiss yours.
