Vivo has just announced its new X70 series, made up of the eponymous X70, X70 Pro and X70 Pro +. Like the X60, the new range uses the new Vivo Zeiss joint imaging system and associated brand. Specifications between models vary, with the Pro + taking a Snapdragon 888+ and the X70 and X70 Pro using the Dimensity 1200. The new phones will be available “gradually” in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan and the United Arab Emirates.
X70 Pro +
Vivo unfortunately didn’t share full specs with us (which would have been particularly helpful in comparing camera specs between models), but the flagship of the line is the X70 Pro +. Inside you have a Snapdragon 888 paired with an unknown amount of LPDDR5 RAM, all pushing the pixels to a superfluous “6.783” WQHD display. Vivo doesn’t say refresh rate, but it charges its 4,500mAh battery with Vivo’s 55W FlashCharge, as well as Qi-compatible wireless charging – that’s a new tip for Vivo, and it’s also a incredible 50W load. It is also rated IP68, which is another first for the company.
Externally the X70 Pro + has a “ceramic window”, I don’t know what else that means, but I’m assuming the back is ceramic to some extent. The X70 Pro + is rumored to have a pretty sleek camera setup as well. While Vivo hasn’t shared these full specs with us in its press release, we do know that it has a four-camera array (50MP, 48MP, 12MP, 8MP) that uses Samsung’s large GN1 sensor as its main, combined with a Sony IMX589 ultra-wide gimbal camera. One of the two remaining units is a folded / periscope-style telephoto lens. Although the press release does not say so, the attached images imply that the primary camera is exceptionally fast, with a positively monstrous aperture of f / 1.57 – rad so true.
The X70 Pro + will be available in Enigma Black under Vivo’s Funtouch OS 12. This numbering implies that it works under Android 12, which it did not. Actually been published by Google at the moment. This could mean that phones won’t ship for a while until Android 12 becomes stable, or Vivo may have changed its numbering.

The X70 and X70 Pro are less upscale, both powered by still quite capable MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipsets with LPDDR4 RAM and UFS3.1 storage. Neither has this sleek new wireless charging, but they can charge their batteries (4450mAh for the X70 Pro and 4400mAh for the X70) with a cable using the company’s 44W FlashCharge. The screens are a bit smaller at 6.56 “, but Vivo made give us the refresh rate this time: 120Hz. No IP rating, however.
Camera wise, these two phones vary. The X70 Pro has a quad camera setup (50MP, 12MP, 12MP, 8MP), and Vivo is happy to tell us that it uses an “ultra-sensitive gimbal camera coupled with Gimbal Stabilization 3.0 technology” with OIS at 5 axes and improved EIS, but no other useful camera details were included. The same goes for the X70, which has a tri-camera setup (40MP, 12MP, 12MP), gimbal play times, and other unspecified specs. (I’m sure any missing specs will end up being good, it’s just frustrating that the company doesn’t want to talk about it in their press release.) On top of that, you can expect Funtouch sauce from Vivo, version 12.
Availability dates and prices vary by market. Yes Funtouch 12 stands for Android 12, you might have to wait a bit for one of the phones to be in your pocket. That is, unless you’re in the United States, like most of our readers. In that case, you won’t benefit from it at all – it doesn’t come here.
