Evie Richards slows down cyclocross season due to fatigue

Cross-country mountain bike world champion Evie Richards has put her cyclocross ambitions on hold for the fall.

The multidisciplinary ace explained on Instagram that a long block of mountain bike races had started to bite, forcing him to abandon his scheduled starts at the Cyclocross World Cups in the United States this week.

“Unfortunately, I didn’t reach the CX start line this weekend. I got sick after the final [MTB] World Cup and I just couldn’t recover mentally or physically, ”she wrote. “Sometimes it’s hard to know when to stop, but this time I didn’t have much of a choice, my body and my brain told me I had reached the limit and I put the brakes. I’m sorry for my Trek family, but I know Jolanda Neff is putting on a show.

After finishing seventh at the Toyko Olympics this summer, the 24-year-old won the rainbow mountain bike jersey at the end of August. She then stormed the end of the cross-country World Cup season, winning both Lenzerheide and Snowshoe in recent months.

Now it looks like Richards won’t be able to run until the New Year as she focuses on 2022.

“From the bottom of my heart, I just want to say the biggest thanks for everyone’s amazing support this year,” she wrote. “It’s time to recharge the batteries ready for a new season.
