PARKERSBURG – The nominations have arrived. It is now up to The Parkersburg News and Sentinel readers to narrow the list of candidates.

Voting begins Friday to determine the top five nominees in each of the 167 Readers’ Choice 2021 categories, ranging from top college / university to top towing service.

All the ballots are online this year on newsandsentinel.com/readerschoice21. The change was made to give more people the chance to participate while increasing the transparency of the process.

“We are delighted to enter this next phase in which readers can now vote to support the companies they have named” Editor Jim Spanner said. “Our community includes a wide range of businesses and organizations, and our expanded list of domains and categories gives people the ability to tell us about all of their favorites.”

Readers can vote once per category per day until Thursday, October 14, announcing their preferences for the region’s best omelets, the concrete contractor, the museum and more.

Votes will be counted by an independent third party. Once the top five are determined, readers will be asked to weigh once more, with the top voter in each category winning the title of Parkersburg News and Sentinel Readers’ Choice 2021. Additionally, those who get the second and third votes will be announced as finalists.

The categories are divided into eight areas: Education, Entertainment and Travel, Food and Catering, Health and Beauty, Homes and Garden, Services, Shopping and Vehicles.

The list of nominees was determined by reader submissions this summer.
