Rapper Waka Flocka Flame is declared safe after Tuesday's shooting on the campus of the University of North Carolina, Charlotte.

The rapper was to give a free concert at the school football stadium Tuesday night.

"I am safe," tweeted at 7:57 am EST. On his Instagram stories, the rapper added: "I pray that all my fans are safe and ok! … I will not be able to perform or even go to the scene … please all my supporters and my followers! "

At least two people have died and four injured, according to local emergency services. Shots were reported near a campus building around 5:40 pm, according to the university.

A suspect is in custody and the scene is secure. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Service tweeted about two hours after the shots were reported. Police said that they thought no other suspect was involved.

The University of North Carolina on the Charlotte campus was locked out as a result of information on the murder.

In early April, Waka Flocka Flame was in a recording studio in Atlanta when three men started filming. The rapper had to go to the shelter, but escaped unhurt.
