Walking in the historic space reserved for women with a cleaned Jacksonville native

This is not a blunder of epic proportions. But it's still not unfortunate.

NASA announced Monday that the first walk in the women's space, Christina Koch and Annie McClain, a native of Jacksonville – scheduled this Friday – will not happen because of the size of the suit. Both will have to wear a medium-sized torso (NASA basically calls it a space suit shirt). Only one can be ready to be used during the historic walk in the space of Friday.

This means that Koch and McClain will have to share the torso component when they move separately. So next Friday, Koch will take his space walk with Hague instead of McClain.

"Koch was to perform this space trip with astronaut McClain, in what would have been the first outing in the all-female space," NASA said on its website. "However, after consulting McClain and (astronaut Nick) Hague after the first spacewalk (March 22), the mission officials decided to adjust the assignments, in part because of the availability of space suits on the station.
