With so many fan theories spreading, it will be impossible for the finale of “WandaVision” to satisfy all viewers.
The finale of “WandaVision” is fast approaching, and with it comes the pressure from heaven to deliver the glut of fan theories that have been generated over the past eight episodes. It’s nearly impossible for a fan theory-driven TV series to satisfy every viewer (just ask the teams behind “Lost” and “Game of Thrones,” to begin with), which is why the director of “WandaVision “Matt Shakman is already bracing for fan disappointment. . In an interview with Weekly entertainment As he previewed the finale, Shakman expects many fans to be disappointed with how some fan theories play out (or aren’t addressed), but hopes the ending will be consistent with the series as a whole.
“I hope they feel like the trip has been satisfying for them,” Shakman said when asked what he hoped viewers would take away from the “WandaVision finale. “I know there are so many theories out there; there will be a lot of people who will no doubt be disappointed by this or that theory. But we still tell this story about Wanda going through grief and learning to come to terms with that loss, and I hope people find the finale surprising but also satisfying, and it seems inevitable because it’s the same. story they watched. While the eighth episode of the series has all but confirmed that an action-oriented climax will take place between Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen), Agatha (Kathryn Hahn) and White Vision (Paul Bettany), Shakman assures fans that the The show will end by giving priority to the heart over the fists.
“What holds everything together is that he has a big heart,” said the director. “It’s a love story, it’s a story of loss, and I think it resonates even more in this crazy pandemic that we are all trying to survive right now. As the series evolved out of its sitcom tributes and into the look and feel of a traditional Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, Shakman said it was of the utmost importance to prioritize the Wanda’s struggle with grief in the series’ storytelling.
“[Elizabeth Olsen] fully understood that Wanda has suffered more casualties than anyone in the Marvel Universe, ”Shakman said. “She lost her parents, she lost her brother, she lost the love of her life now, and she’s on the brink. In some ways, [Wanda is] As close as Marvel gets to exploring mental illness, really – how do you maintain your reality when you’re constantly going through so much trauma? She taps into that so beautifully.
