The Warriors are hoping to have the same luck with No. 14 overall pick Moses Moody as they did in 1989, when the organization picked Tim Hardaway in the same spot. The five-time All-Star delivered a lovely video message to Moody, wishing him good luck and welcoming the Arkansas product to the Warriors.

“You are part of a great organization, the people here, the Bay Area fans are going to welcome you with open arms,” said Hardaway. “Just come here and do your best and believe in yourself and trust yourself.”

The Warriors were elated when Moody ran into them at No.14, and general manager Bob Myers admitted after the draft that the team were considering using the seventh overall pick on the 19-year-old.

Tenacious defenseman and talented shooter, Moody was one of college basketball’s top freshmen last season, helping lead the Razorbacks to the Elite 8 of the NCAA tournament.

Moody and No.7 pick Jonathan Kuminga will join a Warriors roster for a return to the championship next season with Klay Thompson expected to return early in the 2021-22 season.

The Warriors are hoping Moody’s rookie season can generate similar production to Hardaway, who was named the first-team All-Rookie in 1989-90.
