The Williamsport School District issued the following statement regarding recent reports:
STATEMENT ON RECENT MISLEADING REPORTS CONCERNING MYRTLE BEACH, SC, INCIDENT
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (OCTOBER 1, 2021) – Following recent reports released this week, the Williamsport area school district is seeking to provide clarification on what has been publicly seen as new developments in the Attorney General’s investigation on the 2018 Myrtle Beach, SC incident. The WASD would like to point out that the investigation into the case by the Attorney General’s Office (OAG) was closed earlier this year after determining that there was not enough evidence to warrant further action. The outcome of the investigation was also released by Lycoming County District Attorney’s Office Ryan Gardner. References to the case and its search warrants in this week’s articles are not new and should not be misinterpreted as such.
WASD assisted and fully cooperated with the OAG investigation. The district maintains its position that it and its administrators followed all appropriate procedures and protocols to respond appropriately to the incident in question.
