Watch the winner of Quinn Christopherson's Minuscule Prayer: NPR

Moments after our winner of the 2019 Tiny Office Competition, Quinn Christopherson finished his first song at NPR's office, making a confession. He looked at me by setting his Fender Telecaster "Vintage White" and said, "I do not know if you know it, but you called me to tell me" you won! "I hung up on the phone and I thought," I should buy a guitar. "Legit did not have one." But that's Anchorage, that's the music community there anybody else has just borrowed their stuff in the long run. "

Quinn and his musical partner, guitarist and singer Nick Carpenter, arrived from the freshness of Anchorage to the depletion of D.C. They both donned shorts at the office; The Quinn were recently cut to fit the weather.

What was most striking in their performance was their unhindered confidence. Watching them play together and listening to their songs, with their intertwined guitar lines and vocal harmonies, gives the impression of seeing two brothers playing old favorites. The concert was fun and at times respectful.

After opening with his new song "You Told Me", Quinn sang "Glenn", a moving song about his father and their beautiful relationship between two peas. One sentence of this song is at the heart of Quinn's songwriting talents: "My dad, he plays the guitar, says he knows more than he can do about it." tells me that I'm doing more than I know. " Quinn writes stories about what he knows best, his mother and sister, about their addictions and about his love for them. But on his winning song in the contest, the one that closes this performance of Tiny Desk, he looked closely. "Erase Me" talks about his recent transition, what it means now to be a man and how he sees how the world treats him differently after so many years of "usually pulling the stick runs "as a woman. It's a revealing look at the roles of men and women in our culture at a pivotal time for a songwriter who, I think, will be a defining voice for the future of music.
