The forces of order, national terrorism and the justice of the vigilantes are all part of this first look at the reshuffle of the classic graphic novel by Damon Lindelof.

Since the announcement of Damon Lindelof's news in the fall of 2017 about a "Watchmen" pilot for HBO, fans and casual observers are wondering what form this new adaptation might take. After a look at the new series over the summer, HBO has released another preview of what's coming.

Many new versions of the series on old iconography have been introduced in these teasing, but this last window of the series understands quite well what defines this table "Watchmen". After years of relative calm in the Kalvary (a national terrorist group adopting the well-known Rorschach mask), an act of violence is pushing the Tulsa police (Oklahoma) to assume that the inactive group is probably planning something bigger.

To counter this threat, the local sheriff's office teams up with a handful of masked individuals to prevent a catastrophic event. Along the way, there have been many discussions about who would have the privilege of wearing a mask to protect themselves, and what could be the underlying cause of this growing animosity.

During the Television Critics Association's press tour this summer, Lindelof explained how some of these themes of identity and terror overlapped with the political nature of the sources.

"In the original sources, the book was highly political. It was what was happening in American culture at the time, even though it was presented by two British artists. In 2019, what is the equivalent of the nuclear stalemate between the Russians and the United States? I had the impression that it was undeniably the race and the maintenance of order in America. This idea started to be added to the world of 'Watchmen' and had to be presented in a responsible way, "said Lindelof.

Nicole Kassell realized the pilot episode that was to debut on the network next month. Actors in the series, many of whom can be spotted in this trailer, include Regina King, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Hong Chau, Louis Gossett, Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Jeremy Irons.

"Watchmen" will air on October 20 on HBO.
