– Raleigh Police reportedly assisted with a water rescue near an apartment complex after an early morning downpour on Saturday.

WRAL Stormtracker captured video of Brook Hill Townhomes on Dana Drive in Raleigh, near the scene of the rescue. Rescue teams could be seen preparing inflatable boats for use on the flooded roadway and parking lot.

Video and photos sent by Taha and Ali Rahmani from the scene showed several submerged vehicles.

This is far from the first time that the Brook Hill townhouses, located in a flood plain near Walnut Creek, have been visited by water rescue teams. WRAL News has coverage dating back to 2009, when tenants were surprised to learn that their homes were in a floodplain.

The complex was built in 1967 – 10 years before the city’s flood maps were produced. The owner did not agree to a buyout, later proposed by Federal Emergency Management.

Officials said the apartments were also flooded in 2006. Many tenants lost their belongings during storms, not realizing that they would have had flood insurance in their current home.

Be careful driving near any of these areas as isolated flash floods are possible around the Triangle this morning.

Wake County was under a flash flood warning until 10:45 a.m. after parts of the county saw between 2 and 4 inches of rain in the past six hours overnight.
