As the school mask debate rages on, there are dozens of COVID-19 cases in Warren County School District buildings and more than 250 students quarantined.
According to Superintendent Amy Stewart, as of Friday, there had been “40 positive cases to date, spread across all schools. “
She said the district is working to do what it can to keep schools open and maintain in-person education.
The statewide mask mandate went into effect on Tuesday.
A local group pressured the school board to ignore the order.
In an emergency meeting, the board voted on two different motions that would have responded to the order of the Pennsylvania Department of Health and Governor Tom Wolf. Both motions failed.
So far, all buildings in the neighborhood remain open, but the many students quarantined are not there.
