Wells Fargo forbids customers to buy crypto-currencies

The major US bank Wells Fargo has banned customers from buying cryptocurrency via debit cards, according to a tweet of the weekend.

A besieged client of Wells Fargo wrote: "Something fishy is going on with my Wells Fargo bank. I can not buy crypto on Cash App or Coinbase. I tried to attach my debit card and the mention "Card not found", and I used it to pay my bills. AAnyone else has this problem? "

The support team at the bank responded, "Unfortunately, Wells Fargo does not allow transactions involving cryptocurrency."

This is not the first bank to adopt a pessimistic view of cryptocurrencies. Jamie Dimon, CEO of JP Morgan, called Bitcoin "fraud" in 2017 before ironically launching JPM Coin earlier this year.

Last summer, Wells Fargo took the bold step of banning the purchase of cryptocurrency with credit cards, citing "the multiple risks associated with this volatile investment."

"Customers can no longer use their Wells Fargo credit cards to buy cryptocurrency. We do this to be consistent in the Wells Fargo business because of the multiple risks associated with this volatile investment. This decision is consistent with the entire industry, "said a spokesman at the time.
