She promised to use her talk show to tell it like it is, and now Wendy Williams is doing just that – but with her own life.
Lifetime’s new Williams biopic, “Wendy Williams: The Movie,” released its first trailer on Thursday and kept its promise. The trailer describes Williams’ rise from radio host to daytime talk show host, as well as her struggles with cocaine (her now famous Halloween meltdown even makes the cut) and marital struggles with the current ex-husband Kevin Hunter.
Williams is the executive production of the film, which may lead fans to assume that the dramatic or unflattering parts of Williams’ life would be left out, but that doesn’t appear to be the case, as the trailer even touches on the Hunter’s affair with his mistress Sharina Hudson. , who welcomed a daughter with Hunter weeks before Williams filed for divorce.
“I saw nothing, including what you are about to see, [like this before], ” Williams said before launching the trailer.
Darren Grant, who Williams has described as an “award-winning person in the industry,” directs the Lifetime biopic, which he said he would only work on if he wasn’t “watered down.”
“You were on your grind. You were talking about the city, ”he told Willams on Thursday’s episode of“ The Wendy Williams Show ”. “I was like, you know what, this story… I want to be a part of it.”
“Wendy Williams: The Movie” will be released on January 30.
