Thanks to Ambrose Dieringer for the report and the photo:

I wanted to share a new mural with you and your readers, located in the alley between 36th and 37th Avenue. SW (in the middle of the cross streets SO Genesee and Dakota). My neighbor on the other side of the alley, Lawrence Genette, is a local artist who puts the finishing touches to his garage mural in tribute to the artist and murdered militant Nipsey Hussle.

President Obama sent a letter congratulating Hussle at his funeral, noting: "While most people look at Crenshaw neighborhood where he grew up and see only gangs, bullets and desperation, Nipsey saw a potential. He saw a community that, despite its flaws, taught it to always continue. "

Hussle's legacy and Lawrence's art are a powerful reminder that all communities have their challenges, but it's up to us to channel our talents and energy into a positive force.

Among the other murals made by the artist, there is one on Capitol Hill representing Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
