The city has released new statistics on the deployment of Covid-19 vaccines that show how many people have received the vaccine at the postcode level. (Update: We initially had the wrong numbers for total vaccinations, but have since corrected them.)

Across the city, 715,000 people received at least one injection. That’s a little over 10% of the adult population. Among the boroughs, Manhattan has the second highest rate of adults who have received at least one vaccine, at 14%. Staten Island has the highest, at 15%.

On the Upper West Side, each of the major zip codes has an above-average percentage of people who have had at least one photo:

10023: 20% of the adult population

10024: 22%

10025: 19%

One reason for this high rate may be that the Upper West Side has a disproportionate number of seniors. But it can also have to do with the richness of the neighborhood.

Council members pointed out that the vaccine had largely been given to people in wealthier postcodes – and to those who were often not as badly affected by Covid in the first place. The city and state have come under fire for doing too little awareness and creating a complicated online system that favors tech savvy people. “In wealthier, whiter regions, 16% of adults have been completely evacuated. In low income neighborhoods of color, as low as 2%, ”wrote Council Member Mark Levine. “It’s upside down. He can’t hold on.

Correction: We initially had bad stats for Postal Codes, but they’ve been updated.
