Wexford County Sheriff’s Office is looking for volunteers

The Wexford County Sheriff’s Office is looking for volunteers to help them better serve the community.

The office’s victim services unit needs volunteer advocates who are ready to help those in need.

Those who are interested would work with people who have experienced traumatic events or help MPs notify the death of families who have lost loved ones.

In addition, volunteers would provide resources such as information about funeral homes or other useful options.

“Families always have questions and rightfully so, they’re going to have these questions,” Deputy Sheriff Richard Doehring said. “This member of the victim services unit can help them answer these questions while the officer is still allowed to continue their investigation and give them that one-on-one meeting they really need in this time of crisis. “

The Wexford County Sheriff’s Office said it would also help free officers to continue working on their investigations.

A 20-hour course is required to obtain a Volunteer Lawyer Certificate. You must be 18 or over to volunteer.
