I don’t see on TV or in the Post Bulletin any discussion of the Spectrum outage in (at least) southwest Rochester on Tuesday September 27… never recalled. Isn’t that newsworthy, or was it more localized than I thought? Spectrum refuses to acknowledge the problem, but the media should certainly heed this news, IMHO. Please send it to all parties involved. – BL

Fortunately, my internet was working at the time.
Spectrum acknowledged the problem to me. Of course, you already knew it had happened, since you had experienced it.
When I asked the question, Spectrum rep Kim Haas filled in some blanks about the incident.
“As of…. On September 27, some Spectrum customers in southwest Rochester were affected by an outage that began just after 4 pm.
“Spectrum teams responded immediately, and as soon as they received the proper security clearance to enter the area, they began work to make the necessary repairs.
“Services were restored for customers gradually throughout the evening, as individual fibers were repaired. (Remember that a fiber line can contain hundreds of fiber strands, and if it is cut or damaged, each individual strand must be repaired or replaced individually.
This is why some customers may have service restored before others. In this case, all fibers were fixed around 11:30 p.m. – but many customers recovered their services earlier in the evening.
While “some” is more than a little vague, it’s a pretty detailed answer for Spectrum.
