SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Cathie Wood of investment management firm ARK Invest are expected to discuss Bitcoin at the Word Conference on Wednesday, in a session announced as not having “nothing” forbidden.

Musk, who is also CEO of electric car company Tesla, will appear live with Dorsey and Wood at 11:00 a.m. PDT on Wednesday.

Musk and Dorsey are known to have different views on Bitcoin, widely regarded as the first cryptocurrency. In a teaser on its website, The ₿ Word states “nothing is off limits! During the discussion titled “Bitcoin as a Tool for Economic Empowerment”.

Steve Lee, head of Square Crypto, an initiative linked to the digital payments company Square co-founded by Dorsey, will moderate the session.

A link to the session is available on The ₿ Word website.

The ₿ Word bills itself as a “Bitcoin-focused initiative that aims to demystify and de-stigmatize traditional Bitcoin narratives, explain how institutions can embrace it, and raise awareness of areas of the network that need support.” . He is associated with the industry group Crypto Council for Innovation (CCI) (whose members include Coinbase, Fidelity Digital Assets and Square), Ark Invest, the venture capital fund Paradigm (which brings together CCI) and Square.

The event comes in a difficult time for the cryptocurrency market, including Bitcoin. As of Tuesday morning, the market lost about $ 90 billion over a 24-hour period. Bitcoin was worth $ 31,443.28 on Wednesday, up from an all-time high of $ 63,109 in April, according to CoinMarketCap.

The discussion follows a Twitter exchange between Musk and Dorsey in late June, prompted by the Twitter CEO’s tweet about the ₿ Word conference. He wrote: “The #bitcoin development community first and foremost.

“As more companies and institutions enter the mix, we all want to help protect and spread what makes the open development of #bitcoin so perfect.

“This day is focused on education and the actions to achieve it.”

After Musk replies “Bicurious?” Dorsey hit back “Weird!” and invited him to have a chat with him at the event.

“You can share all your curiosities…” Dorsey wrote, later tweeting “Let’s talk about THE”.

Beside a flashing emoji, Musk said, “For the Bitcurious? Alright then, let’s go.”

Musk has changed his mind about Bitcoin in recent months. At the end of January, he changed his Twitter profile biography to “#bitcoin”, which was followed by a 20% increase in its price.

Days later, during an event in early February, he said he had been “a little slow to embrace” bitcoin support. Tesla then bought $ 1.5 billion worth of bitcoin, before selling 10% of its holdings.

But Musk then spoke out against Bitcoin, tweeting that Tesla would no longer accept bitcoin as payment due to concerns about its ties to fossil fuels.

Dorsey, meanwhile, is a strong supporter of Bitcoin. In June, he told an audience at the Bitcoin 2021 conference: “I don’t think there’s anything more important in my life to work on.”
