JACKSONVILLE, Florida – Dozens of News4Jax viewers called the newsroom and emailed about a loud boom they heard on Thursday night. Crockery and shaking windows, a brief boom, “sudden and powerful”, that’s how one News4jax viewer described it.

Some said it shook their homes. what was that?

Chances are you’ve heard a sonic boom from SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft heading for a water landing.

The above video was taken by a News4Jax viewer. The spacecraft had just completed SpaceX’s 23rd cargo resupply mission to the space station. It is an unmanned craft that passed through the atmosphere just above Jacksonville and came down just off the east coast.
