In the days of DVD television, no series was treated better than The Muppet Show– until it does not. Disney produced lavish full season sets for the series, including nifty bonuses, and even wrapped them up in flocked “fuzzy” boxes intended to reproduce the feeling of suppleness of … a Muppet’s coat? Skin? At least for three of the five seasons.

Unfortunately, sales were apparently not strong enough to justify the effort, or Disney was distracted by brighter things like lightsabers and Iron Man; whatever – and a Notwithstanding the Change.org petition—Seasons four and five of The Muppet Show have never been released on DVD.

Thankfully, while this never allays the hurt feelings of physical media completists, Disney succeeds for Kermit fans by dropping all five seasons on Disney + next month, so you can savor each goofy celebrity cameo in its original glory.

As if that wasn’t enough, there are other things coming to Disney + in February, including a new movie, Flora and Ulysses, based on the book by Kate DiCamillo (The Legend of Despereaux). But I’m just gonna watch Pigs in space.
