What’s the most impractical car you’ve ever driven on a daily basis?

Usually, it’s better to buy a car that fits your life, not a car that you have to rearrange to fit. Sometimes, however, things don’t work that way. Sometimes your love for a car runs so deep and so deep that you’re willing to embarrass yourself and your family and friends occasionally to make the relationship work.

I can’t say that I personally have a great example of this in my fairly short car ownership history, although I will say that the Fiesta ST I currently drive is certainly the closest answer I have to this. question. Yes, it’s a four-door sedan, which initially seems pretty practical. At this point, however, I’ve had enough trips across the country and wholesale stores to know that a car is a bit too small and hard can be very inconvenient in those key moments when you need them. At least it tends to take me out of designated driver duties because no one wants to get stuck in the back seat.

The answer i want to have to this question, however, is none other than the GR Yaris. I would love nothing more than to have an even smaller and less practical sedan that ruins my life, for the simple reason that it is a special rally homologation. I would put up with all the bullshit if only Toyota gave me the chance.

So what absolutely unworkable and inhospitable car have you tried to live with, and how did you manage to make this flawed relationship work?
