WHEELING – A project to modernize the facilities at Wheeling Health Right in South Wheeling will soon be launched.

Executive Director Kathie Brown said she spoke to Mills Group architect Victor Greco on Thursday, who told her the project was ready to go to tender.

Offers will be accepted in the coming week, with the project due to start in October.

“We hope this will be done by the first of the year,” Brown said.

Wheeling Health Right is located at 61 29th St. in South Wheeling.

Plans call for the building’s current conference room to be transformed into a second dental operating area. An additional storage room for the necessary personal protective equipment will also be placed there.

The project then includes the construction of a new conference room, as well as a drive-in pharmacy showcase. The drive-in option will give patients the ability to collect their prescriptions without having to go inside, Brown explained.

The need to expand the dental services area has become necessary as the need and number of dental patients has increased at Wheeling Health Right.

Local dentists and dental students at WVU provide dental services to Wheeling Health Right patients. In order to receive dental services, you must be an established patient at Wheeling Health Right.

Wheeling Health Right continues to test for COVID-19 and provides COVID-19 vaccines on weekdays. Tests are offered from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

COVID vaccinations are offered Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Health Right. Walk-ins are welcome. Those who need tests or vaccinations don’t need to be a Wheeling Health Right patient to receive these services there, according to Brown.
