DANE COUNTY (WKOW) – Madison & Dane County Public Health has updated the Dane County COVID-19 data dashboard with more vaccine-related data. Vaccine data is updated on Wednesdays and Fridays every week.
The dashboard is available at https://publichealthmdc.com/coronavirus/dashboard.
As of February 3, 11.4% of the county had received at least one dose and 3.9% had completed their full vaccination.
35.9 percent of people 65 and older received at least one dose.
“The data that is most requested of us right now is the COVID-19 vaccine data,” said Katarina Grande, public health supervisor and head of the data team. “We hope this new information will help the public more easily follow the progress of vaccines. The fact that more than 11% of people already have at least some immunity to the vaccine is extremely encouraging, and we would like to stress this.
Vaccine data is taken from the Wisconsin Immunization Registry, or WIR, and shared with Public Health by the Department of Health Services. This data is entered into the WIR by vaccinators – which includes thousands of clinics, pharmacies and public health sites across the state, according to a press release.
Demographic data may be limited and contain errors; WIR race / ethnicity data is not regularly checked or updated every time a person receives a vaccine. Despite these limitations, it is important to present demographic data to highlight potential inequalities in vaccine distribution.
“Right now, the demographics of people vaccinated reflect who is eligible for a vaccine, such as healthcare workers,” Ms. Grande continued. “As vaccines become increasingly available to other community members, we hope to see the vaccinated population match the overall population of Dane County, with a focus on affected populations disproportionately.”
