More Floridians are now eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccines as additional doses arrive and demand for vaccines among the elderly declines.

Here is an overview of people in the state who are eligible for vaccines:

Residents 65 and over

Residents and staff of long-term care facilities

Frontline health workers who have direct contact with patients

Sworn law enforcement officers 50 years of age and over

Firefighters aged 50 and over

Kindergarten to Grade 12 employees – If you are in this category and are 50 years of age or older, you can go to any publicly funded vaccination site. If you’re 49 or under, you can get the shot at retail pharmacies and the three FEMA-supported sites in Miami-Dade County, which accept walk-in visits. University professors are do not still eligible as of March 5.

Residents under 65 deemed “extremely vulnerable” to COVID-19 by doctor – Note that not all sites will accept these patients. Hospitals, doctors and pharmacists can administer the injections to patients they consider vulnerable. Three FEMA-supported sites in Miami-Dade also offer vaccines to vulnerable patients, who must have this specific form signed by a physician to be eligible. (Other state sites, including Hard Rock Stadium and Marlins Park, do not yet vaccinate vulnerable patients under the age of 65.) Gov. Ron DeSantis has said doctors’ offices will begin receiving doses of Johnson & Johnson that they can administer to their patients in need. Check with your doctor and also check if the site where you want to be vaccinated accommodates vulnerable patients under 65 years of age.
