Texans wide receiver Will Fuller has been suspended six games for a PED violation, he confirmed on Monday.
Fuller explained in an Instagram post that earlier this year he sought treatment from a medical professional who “prescribed him drugs he believed to be authorized under NFL drug policy. However, Fuller later learned that the substance was not licensed as part of the league’s performance enhancing drug policy.
“I want to sincerely apologize to the Texas organization and all of my fans for this mistake,” Fuller wrote. “I can’t wait to put all of this behind me and come back better than ever in 2021.”
Fuller recorded the best game of his 2020 season last Thursday, recording six catches for 171 yards and two touchdowns.
During the season, he recorded a career-high 879 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.
Fuller, 26, has been the subject of several business rumors this season. In particular, the Packers would have been interested in the Notre Dame product, but could not agree on its commercial value.
Texas quarterback Deshaun Watson later said he was grateful Fuller was not treated.
“It would have been hell if they had done that for sure,” Watson said of Fuller’s potential trading, via ESPN.
The 26-year-old spent the first five-plus seasons of his career with Houston.
He is in the last year of his rookie contract.
