The biggest question for the Chicago Bears this offseason is who will be the team’s starting quarterback at the start of the 2021 season.
So far Chicago has been big players in the quarterback market by asking or offering to trade for quarterbacks or rumored to be part of the trading block, including Deshaun Watson, Matthew Stafford, Derek Carr and Carson. Wentz.

Part 2 of the Jets’ prediction is what happens to Darnold. The Bears need to win now or organizational changes seem imminent, and while Darnold has a lot to prove, he has supporters within the NFL who could create a commercial market.
Why would Chicago be willing to commit to Darnold in a trade and (likely) a fifth-year option when the Jets wouldn’t? Simple. Bears general manager Ryan Pace needs to be much more focused on 2021 than the life beyond. Darnold represents a likely improvement over what the Bears have in place, and there’s certainly a chance he could stand up under different circumstances than he had in New York. But honestly, it’s tough to pin down the Bears’ next starter.
It all depends on whether or not the Jets use the general No. 2 pick on a quarterback rather than building around Darnold with certain weapons.
While Darnold’s college success is well documented, as many believed he was close to being the best quarterback drafted in 2018, it hasn’t translated into the NFL. Which might have something to do with the Jets not really helping Darnold with talented players and offensive linemen.
Even if the Bears were to trade for Darnold, there’s no guarantee that he’ll suddenly be the guy he was in college. Chicago must address the problem on the tackle on the offensive line and re-sign receiver Allen Robinson, otherwise Darnold will look at a similar situation on offense.
But the Bears are quickly running out of options in the 2021 quarterback. Unless the plan is to trade and catch one of the best quarterbacks in the draft, we could envision a scenario where Chicago ends up. by bringing back Mitchell Trubisky. on a one year contract.
