Windows 10 1809 language module problem, Microsoft recommends rebooting the PC

The last three cumulative updates for Windows 10 version 1809, KB4495667, KB4501835, and KB4493509 were not exactly bug-free. Windows 10 version 1809 is currently affected by several issues and Microsoft has added a new problem to the list.

The problem was KB4493509 based on the list of known issues on the official support page. The update was released on April 9, 2019 as part of the April patch of Tuesday. It seems that Microsoft has not solved the problem in the two updates that followed for Windows 10 version 1809, so KB4495667 and KB4501835 are also concerned.

The problem concerns systems on which "some" Asian language packs are installed.

After the installation of KB4493509, devices with some Asian language packs may receive the error message "0x800f0982 – PSFX_E_MATCHING_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND".

Microsoft notes that the systems affected by the problem "may" receive the error "0x800f0982 – PSFX_E_MATCHING_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND". Quite vague, especially since Microsoft did not even provide a list of language packs with this problem.

Microsoft lists two mitigation options:

1. Uninstall and reinstall the language pack recently added to the system.
2. Check for updates to install the "Cumulative Update April 2019".

The second suggestion is disconcerting. Because updates are cumulative and April or May updates are already installed on the system, it is difficult to understand why Windows Update would (re) send a pre-system update. .

In the second option, Microsoft suggests that users reset their PCs if reinstalling the language pack does not solve the problem.

If reinstalling the language pack does not alleviate the problem, reset your PC as follows:

1. Go to the Settings> Recovery application.
2. Select Start under the Reset this PC option.
3. Select Keep my files.

Why does not Microsoft suggest uninstalling the affected updates to fix the problem? Could it be that the problem persists when we try?

Microsoft notes that it is working on a resolution of the problem and that it will include it in future updates.

Closing words

The documentation leaves a lot to be desired: it does not list the language packs known to be at the root of the problem, does not reveal how the error manifests itself, and suggests checking for updates to install a Previous cumulative update makes little sense.

I first tried uninstalling and installing the language pack and then removing the affected updates. Depending on the severity of the problem, you may want to consider rebooting the PC as a last resort unless you have a backup that you can restore.

If you have not yet installed the latest cumulative updates and Asian language packs are installed, you may want to wait for the installation a little longer (until the problem be solved).

With regard to Windows 10 version 1809, could this become the most disturbed version of Windows?
