Winners and losers of Titans 19, Bears 15

The Titans came from behind to beat the Bears and finish their 2019 preseason with a 2-2 record. That's about what you expect from a fourth pre-season game. No stars and botched games. It was not as bad as in the fourth pre-season game last year, but it was still a difficult time. For the last time in preseason, here are my winners and losers from Titans 19, Bears 15.

The guys who did not play: the winners

In my opinion, the Titans have held 44 players in tonight's match. That number includes Taylor Lewan and Jeffery Simmons, who should not be part of the 53-man roster during Saturday's cut. Lewan is suspended while Simmons should start the season on PUP. This number also includes Joshua Kalu, who is on the bubble, but who was unavailable due to an injury.

David Fluellen, who also did not play tonight, is the only other type of bubble to have been injured, and I say he is extremely likely to make the final alignment.

This leaves 40 players who seem to be safe on the list of 53 players if the Titans follow the same plan as the one used last year. Many of these names were already locks, but here are some of the most notable players who have come out and are likely to be on the list:

The biggest surprise of this group is Mack, who has been excellent this pre-season and seems to have earned a spot in the lineup as one of only three defensive linemen to stand out of this match, joining Jurrell Casey and DaQuan Jones. Taywan Taylor and Jamil Douglas are two other guys who seemed to be close to the bubble, but now they seem to be safe on the 53 without a surprise.

The guys who played: Losers

Once you have eliminated the 40 players selected for reasons other than the injury (guys who seem to have played their ticket for the lineup) and the three specialists in the game of attack kicks, you have about 10 places left for alignment. the players who were on the pitch tonight. Being part of this list is not necessarily the end of the road, but it does mean that these guys have at least a little more work to do. In some cases, this may also be due more to the numbers available on their respective site. position as well.

There are many notable names here, but the defensive line stands out for me. Isaiah Mack who had the evening while Brent Urban, Austin Johnson and Matt Dickerson all worked was a big surprise for me. Dawkins will not do the lineup, but he's a guy I like to watch when he plays. Despite his small size at only 5'-7 "and 183 pounds, he runs incredibly hard and shows no fear in attacking the hole. He finished with 13 runs for 117 rushing yards and 4 assists for 31 yards and 2 touchdowns in the night. I would not be opposed to seeing him return to the practice team here.

Woodside was not terriblebut he missed some easy shots that could have been touchdowns or at least kept the controls alive. I wondered if, in my opinion, he was part of the list of 53 players during the pre-season and that tonight, it did not help his case in my eyes.

David Long: Winner

Long was one of the biggest names to play in this game and he was very active again. It looks like he's one of those players who constantly play around the ball and, although he needs more refinement, I think his pre-season performance is very worthy of alignment.

The secondary Titans: the losers

Apart from Tye Smith – who started and played the first series of the game – it was a rather rough performance of the lower secondary Titans. Guys like Kareem Orr, Kenneth Durden, JoJo Tillery, Mike Jordan, LaDarius Wiley and D'Andre Payne battled the Bears pass attack, allowing Tyler Bray to throw for 252 yards. The cover improved significantly in the second half, but this first period was reminiscent of former secondary Perrish Cox-Valentino Blake.

Roberson saw a lot of play time and was a little up and down, but I saw more good than bad. The highlight was the Bears quarterback bag, Tyler Bray, which featured Roberson's ability to take the lead.

He played a lot around the quarter during the second half of the game and finished with 2 sacks and 2 tackles for the night's defeat. I can not see him doing the lineup after Reggie Gilbert's addition, but a spot on the practice team looks good for Roberson.
