Wisconsin and Michigan attend northern lights show

Aurora borealis do not always show up when geomagnetic storms are announced, but last weekend seems to have brought the whole show to the night sky.

The National Oceans and Atmospheric Administration was expecting Northern Lights activity late Saturday and early Sunday in parts of the United States, including Wisconsin and northern Michigan.

Sometimes, these storms do not occur or there is not enough activity for the aurora borealis to manifest itself. Sometimes the cloud cover blocks our view.

Here is an overview of what Wisconsin residents have captured and shared on social media over the long weekend.

The Upper Peninsula of Michigan seems to have had a lot more action this weekend. Here is a collection of photos posted on Twitter and Instagram by our northern neighbors.
