On Friday September 17, 2021, shortly after 9 p.m., Lancaster County Sheriff’s Deputies responded with Bennet Fire, Southeast Fire and Rescue and Lincoln Fire and Rescue, to a motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles on Highway 2 near from Rokeby Road.
Initial investigation indicates that an eastbound 2012 Subaru Legacy, driven by Kimberly A. Haes, 55, crossed the center line and collided with a 2013 Dodge Caravan westbound, driven by a 19-year-old man. Haes died at the scene. The Dodge Caravan was occupied by four people. All four were taken by land ambulance to two Lincoln hospitals. All were to be admitted with non-life threatening injuries.
Preliminary evidence indicates that the seat belts were used by all occupants of both vehicles. Alcohol is considered a contributing factor in the accident. The Lancaster County District Attorney ordered an autopsy. The next of kin have been notified.
The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and continue to investigate the details of the crash.
