JACKSONVILLE – The fight for women’s right to choose has ended in Jacksonville.

“We demand reproductive freedom in the state of Florida,” said Jacksonville Women’s March organizer Amber Wilson.

Men, women and children of all ages showed up at the Duval County courthouse on Saturday morning to fight for reproductive rights. Many of them were also showing their support for the women of Texas.

The rally specifically calls on Texas lawmakers, who passed a bill banning abortions as early as six weeks pregnant.

“The fact that they had the audacity to do this to the women of Texas, we don’t want them to feel alone. We need change, ”said Reilee Meyer, supporter of the Women’s March.

Now Florida lawmakers are looking to pass a similar bill.

District 27 Representative Webster Barnaby deposited HB 167 just a few weeks ago, banning a doctor from performing an abortion if a fetal heartbeat is detected.

“We are trying to let Florida lawmakers know that Florida is not defending this kind of legislation and we are demanding freedom of reproduction,” Wilson said.

The rally turned into a march through downtown Jacksonville. Dozens of activists proudly waved their placards and the opposition held on.

“We would rather they love their babies. They must understand that children are a blessing from God, ”said Mauricio Belgrano, who opposes abortion.

For some, it seems that this problem is repeating itself.

“We have fought for this so many times. And then we are back, ”said Sandra Vickroy, supporter of the Women’s March.

It’s a fight they will continue to do, every time.
