Wonder Woman 1984 Runtime Revealed Ahead of HBO Max Launch

It’s not as long as “ Avengers: Endgame, ” but you’ll be glad you can hit pause!

The runtime for Wonder Woman 1984 has now been revealed that tickets are on sale and fans must be ready for 2 hours and 31 minutes of Gal gadot kicking all kinds of butt.

Director Patty jenkins Previously, Collider said last December that the sequel’s first cut was 2 hours and 45 minutes long, so it’s clear she’s been busy cropping the footage in the edit room.

Studios are known to prefer shorter run times, and Jenkins seemed to hint at some editing battles in this interview, saying that “one of the things I was tinkering with would make it shorter – which would make everything the world excited – but it’s not bad. ”

One of the reasons the first cut might have been a bit longer than originally planned is that Jenkins recognized certain moments in the shoot as special and therefore decided to develop them.

“It was interesting to see that so many scenes that we decided to shoot and then something big would happen and then we would lay on it. Some things that were written to be really small moments turned into ‘But it’s so awesome! So it’s hard to end up with this situation, ”Jenkins said.

Wonder Woman 1984The 151 minute run time makes it considerably longer than Justice League, which lasted a relatively brief 2 hours, although it’s still a minute shorter than the theatrical cut of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Meanwhile, Suicide Squad was 123 minutes, Shazam! was 132 minutes and Aquaman was 142 minutes, so the Wonder woman sequel is one of DC’s longest-running films.

Of course, since Wonder Woman 1984 will be released on HBO Max the same day it hits theaters, the millions of people watching it at home will be able to pause the movie to go to the bathroom and respond to texts. I don’t really think all of those comic book movies have to be 2.5 hours long, but Wonder Woman 1984 presents two new villains played by Kristen wiig and Pedro Pascal, more her bring back Chris Pine since Diana’s love interests Steve Trevor, so there is enough history to justify his execution.

On the other hand, Avengers: Infinity War ran 2 hours and 40 minutes, while Avengers: Endgame lasted 3 hours and 2 minutes, so Wonder Woman 1984 looks like a short film compared to these two Marvel movies. No matter how you like your run times, it’s clear that HBO Max subscribers and fans brave enough to see the movie in theaters will get their money’s worth.
