LONDON, Ky (WTVQ) – After taking a year off for the pandemic, the World Chicken Festival returned to London this weekend for its 32nd year. In traditional years, the event typically draws a crowd of 100,000 or more.

Concluding things today after kicking off last Thursday, the Chicken Festival featured carnival rides, live music, contests, 165 vendors and more. It also has the honor of having the largest stainless steel skillet in the world.

As the festivities drew to a close, coordinator Kelly Burton recalled a successful event.

“This weekend has been perfect, the weather has been phenomenal over the past 4 days. We’re wrapping things up here Sunday at the World Chicken Festival. We had great entertainment. We had families, grandparents came out. It was an incredible turnout, ”said Burton.

The World Chicken Festival is named after Kentucky Fried Chicken founder Harlan Sanders, as the original KFC resides in the nearby town of Corbin.
