WR Tyreek Hill Chiefs Sign Three Year Contract Extension

Tyreek Hill, receiver of the Kansas City Chiefs, signed with the club a $ 54 million contract extension according to friend Terez Paylor's Yahoo! Sports.

Paylor also said the extension had "a unique structure," including a $ 5.8 million signing bonus, plus $ 35.2 million guaranteed. The Chiefs confirmed the news on his official Twitter account moments after Paylor broke the story.

Hill – who started this season in the final year of his rookie contract – has just finished an All-Pro season with 1,479 yards (and 12 touchdowns) on 87 receptions. In January, the leaders made it clear that a contract extension for Hill was one of their priorities for the off season. At the time, it was reported that Hill's contract could become a five-year contract valued at approximately $ 100 million.

But in the spring and early summer, Hill faced a possible suspension from the NFL after the Overland Park police were called home that he shared with the fiancee of at the time, Crystal Espinal, to investigate a possible abuse (or neglect) of a young son. This put all contract negotiations in abeyance.

No criminal charges have ever been filed in this case. After a league investigation in mid-July, the NFL said that it "can not conclude that Mr. Hill violated the personal conduct policy" and that Hill would not be subject to a suspension of the league. This allowed the leaders to lift the suspension they had imposed on Hill while investigations were ongoing and possibly extending the contract.
