WWE SmackDown Results, Recap, Reaction (November 20, 2020): Secondary Champion

Roman just called Drew his favorite shit.

Legend.

Roman absolutely kills, no, murders … no – slaughter every promo he cuts on TV. And we have the impression that each one is better than the next.

Roman told Adam Pearce to step down so he could sit at the head of the contract signing table. What a beautiful touch. It is extreme attention to detail for which I am here.

Drew said he hopes Reigns underestimates him, as he should now prepare for war. Then Roman led the sermon. Roman gave the brutal truth, that Drew is nothing but a secondary champion, a prop, a substitute. Roman said he was THE champion, the face of WWE, your tribal leader and the table chef. Someday, years from now, McIntyre will finally have a chance to be the man, and when he does, he will remember those nights and thank him.

“You’re the guy they send when I’m busy.”

Weft.

He signed the contract and told Drew he would always be his favorite number 2. (Her favorite shit.)

Shooter McReigns, eh? It was a very big wrinkle in history. I mean it would’ve been absolutely epic if Drew had been chosen to take on Goldberg at WrestleMania instead of Braun. Calling Drew the secondary champion was disrespectful, and I loved it.

Also, isn’t it very interesting that the game I’ve been looking forward to the most with Drew since Lesnar was Romain this Sunday – the two guys from Heyman?

Well I think this time it’s Paul Heyman who’s a Roman Reigns guy. This is all awesome. Roman wins on Sunday, but man, I’m still so excited for this game.

Logic and slogans

It’ll be quick.

The promo was atrocious. Asuka citing superstars from the past and Sasha making Michael Cole say “it’s boss time!” Move back. Wrong.

And then – logical!

Carmella attacked Sasha from behind as she tried to get Asuka out before the pay-per-view, and Asuka was just standing there. It made sense! Why would Asuka help her after everything Sasha and Bayley did to her and her best friend Kairi Sane over the summer?

Totally on Asuka’s side here as much as I love Sasha. Sasha needs the win on Sunday but I have the feeling that the win goes to Asuka.

The rest

Daniel Bryan beats. Jey Uso – I really, really enjoyed the aggression of the two men. Before the game, Bryan said his daughter cried when he was in the hospital, and he understands that there is an angel and a devil on Uso’s shoulder. The match ruled, Bryan trying to hit Jey’s head in the mat and Jey almost took the win. Bryan raised his knees and blocked Jey’s splash and won with a small bundle. Really well done of these two. No Roman presence, and I wonder how this loss will play out for Jey.

Not to put the brakes on things, but Jey is on the Bragging Rights men’s team on Sunday. And he lost. It was a trend on this show.

Murphy def. Seth Rollins – Very well done match between the two too, and I liked the way they showed us that they knew each other and could anticipate what the other would do. We saw that when Murphy went to the superkick Seth on the turnbuckle and Seth kicked him first, and when Seth went for the curb and Murphy pulled back and delivered sick knees to the face of Seth. The Mysterio clan was absent for this match and Seth took away his aggression against the men, which made me a little worried that he is continuing what is supposed to be over with them. I think everything will be fine.

The team champions have beaten. Corbin, Zayn, Ziggler and Roode – SmackDown Before Survivor Series – One night a year, Tag Team Champions from Raw and SmackDown take on a group of wrestlers from SmackDown and tease dissent! We didn’t need it. There was a lot of stupidity here. The Raw Tag Team Champions were about to give a SmackDown team a title match. Very … creative and … sensual. (Sarcasm!) However, when the tables were turned on New Day, Street Profits came in to save. Um, where was Big E to make the stop for his boys? He was just in the same room with the two men who came down to save them!

That’s because we wouldn’t have had an insane 8-man tag team game if E had shown up. Sami was pinned down by a flying Ride after being in the game for 12 seconds. Tell me why this happened when Roode or Ziggler, who are neither bragging rights, might have eaten the pin? Sami is in a Bragging Rights game on Sunday. Corbin is also a part of the SmackDown Men’s Team and was a loser here. Losers make up most of the SmackDown side of this upcoming show. Which is the right to brag, of course.

Natalya beats. Tamina – The captain and the BOAT are part of the SmackDown team. Bayley decided to take on the captain role as Adam Pearce picked her to be part of the squad, while pushing Natalya and Tamina into a match to qualify. Unfair! Poor Tamina didn’t stand a chance here, as Natalya’s victory was widely telegraphed. So we have Bayley, Bianca, Liv, Ruby and Natalya against Nia, Shayna, Lacey, Peyton and Lana for bragging rights. I would love to see the women of SmackDown take it, but whether they win or lose, Lana will be the sole survivor of Raw. I would bet my house on it.

Otis is part of the men’s team – So Otis, who has done next to nothing in recent times since losing the Money in the Bank briefcase, was selected to be part of the Bragging Rights men’s team this Sunday by Adam Pearce. His new… manager?… Chad Gable tried to take credit for it. Don’t expect stupid ideas, Chad. Uh … okay! Sure. I mean, Big E was hanging out. I don’t know where after the first three minutes of the show but I would have chosen it instead.

Well, we have our pay-per-view this Sunday and there are a few things that are obvious – Survivor Series sucks now and WWE can’t book shit to make it exciting. It’s not exclusively for Survivor Series, however. WWE tends not to book well. Just tied for the course of watching WWE in recent years. While not exclusively for this show, that’s why this show is now zero. BRAND SUPREMACY and everything. Right to brag. Not very convincing.

We have the Undertaker’s farewell, but like, is it really a goodbye? Only time will tell. I look forward to Roman and Drew.
