Editor’s Note: Tolman’s letter is in response to a letter from last week urging Wyoming to eliminate its economic dependence on the coal industry.

Stepping away from coal is ridiculous.

The article continues below …

Low sulfur coal from Wyoming and Montana is an inexpensive way to generate electricity, and natural gas is important for cooking, heating, and power generation.

Many coal-fired power stations need to be equipped with scrubbers. There is very little pollution. China and Asia have little or no regulation.

America needs these natural resources to remain self-sufficient. America has less pollution than other countries. Coal and other resources help finance schools, among other things. I’m sure most Wyoming residents would like to not pay state income taxes.

Please support these mining companies and keep Wyoming a great place!
