A woman in the U.S. state of Utah died four days after receiving her second dose of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, local media reported on Wednesday.

Kassidi Kurill, a 39-year-old single mother, received the second dose on February 1 and died on February 5, local broadcaster 2News said in an article on vaccine side effects.

While the results of her autopsy are pending, Kurill’s family told the news channel that they had no known health issues or pre-existing conditions.

Her condition started to worsen a day after the shooting and she went to a local hospital three days later, according to the report.

“They did a blood test and came back immediately and said she was very, very sick and her liver was not working,” her father told the news channel.

Kurill was transferred to a Murray town trauma center for a liver transplant, but her condition deteriorated and she died Friday morning, according to the report.

Side effects from vaccines are common, but resulting deaths are rare, according to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

As of March 8, more than 92 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the United States, and VAERS has only received 1,637 death reports – 0.0018% – among those who have received a vaccine.

“To date, VAERS has not detected any pattern of cause of death that would indicate a safety issue with COVID-19 vaccines,” the CDC said on its website.
