TAccording to a new document released Monday in Nature, microbes that live in people's gut might be able to break down hundreds of drugs.
Yale researchers have studied the interactions between hundreds of prescription drugs and about 70 strains of selected bacteria because they represented a range of bacteria found in the human gut. They found that for about two-thirds of the drugs, the presence of the bacteria decreased the level of the drug in a culture.
