San Diego Comic-Con 2020 was a virtual event, not something worth talking about. The big studios missed it, and events like DC FanDome and Disney’s Investor Day overshadowed them in the months that followed. Justice Con has also made headlines, mainly for a new clip released by Zack Snyder for his cut of Justice League.
Unfortunately, this was posted in 480p resolution, and didn’t really make viewing enjoyable. Now, however, we finally have an HD version featuring Henry Cavill’s “Black Suit Superman”.
While the British actor didn’t wear the darkest suit during filming, Snyder changed the color during post-production. There isn’t any additional footage in this preview, and it’s a moment we know of after its initial release as a deleted scene with the Joss Whedon cut.

10. How many new images will the #SnyderCut have?
That’s a question fans have been asking ever since new photos leaked. The hope among fans was that Snyder would be able to wrap up the story he planned to tell. Justice League: Part 2 here, but there’s no way he had time for that.
“I will say that in the end it will probably be about four or five minutes of additional photography for the whole movie,” Snyder confirmed last year. “In the four hours of Justice League, maybe four minutes.” It’s really not much, but maybe enough to add some highly anticipated key scenes.
A sequel remains unlikely, so we’ll just have to accept the #SnyderCut for what it is.
If nothing else, at least Snyder was able to include moments that fans will enjoy, some of which will be addressed in this feature.
9. Ben Affleck was one of the covers of the film
Ben Affleck had personal issues during his time as Batman in the DCEU, and it’s a role that clearly made the actor miserable. The fact that he is ready to don the cape and hood again Flash is a surprise, but Snyder confirmed reports that Affleck also appeared on #SnyderCut covers.
“I think he forgot how uncomfortable it is, but it’s good,” the filmmaker joked, referring to Affleck wearing the Batsuit again. “He was incredibly courteous and again it’s funny that they [snaps fingers]. A few costumes, you know, have been in the archives for a while. They were everywhere, in museums and things, and we had to pull them out of there. “
The addition of a classic comic book villain likely explains what Affleck spent most of his time filming, and a recent photo shared on Vero showed the actor in his Knightmare gear.
This is a parameter, it seems that this version of Justice League will spend some time exploring.
8. Zack Snyder once hoped to release Justice League in two parts
Not Justice League: Part 2! This movie was announced at the same time as the first movie, but given how expensive Snyder’s plans tend to be, Warner Bros. chose to delay this until I saw how the first part worked (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was successful, but its profit margin suffered thanks to the budget).
With Justice League, it seems Snyder always planned on making a four-hour movie, however, and actually had a pretty wacky suggestion for the studio.
“I had this idea, ‘Oh, maybe we could just split it in half and make two two-hour movies out of it,'” explained the director. “My first idea was like, you showed two hours, then maybe a month ago, then the next two hours came out. That was one of my ideas.”
He was replaced by Joss Whedon before that conversation could take place, but it shows us how rich this long epic will be.
7. Carla Gugino as Catwoman?
In Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, we met a dark knight who had spent decades protecting Gotham City. Snyder can tackle this story in his #SnyderCut, and he’s even admitted that, in his mind, Batman crossed paths with Catwoman.
“I would say Carla [Gugino] [as] Catwoman [is perfect]. You would have to say, there’s a flashback to ten years ago, where they were one thing, “ Snyder suggested. “And then he had to stop her, I don’t know what happened, or he had to let her go, and that changed him.”
“And now who knows what she’s doing now, she’s running some kind of international antiques or something, and he needs to retire, and they meet up,” he added.
It was just that Snyder was thinking of what might happen, and not necessarily something he had shot for his director’s cut. However, it would be a nice surprise to see this reunion take place in the scenes of Knightmare.
6. The Joker’s New Look
Snyder teased Joker’s new look, but previously hinted at a revamped look for the Clown Prince of Crime in another recent interview.
“Of course I wanted to honor what was created with him because I thought it was really cool,” the filmmaker teased. “I’m not going to tell you what happens in the little scene, but water has passed under the proverbial bridge between the last time we saw Joker and this appearance. So he made it… it was. is a road-tired Joker, I guess that’s one way of putting it. “
It sounds a lot like what The Joker will be used in all of the additional Knightmare scenes, likely teaming up with Batman in a “must-have” scenario where they may face off against Superman and his Parademons.
As the image used at the top of this piece suggests, it looks like tattoos have thankfully been ditched.
5. The Joker’s cameo was not in the theatrical cut

The Joker is part of Justice League was something Snyder added specifically to the upcoming HBO Max version of the film. Unlike actors Ben Affleck, Amber Heard, and Ray Fisher (all of whom were likely required to complete the filmmaker’s vision), Jared Leto was not expected to appear in Zack Snyder’s original theatrical cut.
“No he wasn’t,” the filmmaker said when asked if the Joker was going to be in his theatrical original cUtah. “There were a few things I had been thinking about doing that I had thought about grabbing at the job. There were a number of things I had drawn – a few of them I couldn’t do, but it’s okay. I am completely satisfied. “
“But that was one of the things that in the next few years I kind of boiled down and said, like, that would be a cool thing to do.” This is exactly why some fans are annoyed that the #SnyderCut is something new, and not quite what the filmmaker intended to release in theaters almost four years ago.
4. A Robin Easter Egg (at least)
While it’s doubtful that Robin’s disappearance at the hands of Joker is part of the #SnyderCut, there will be a reference to the Boy Wonder.
“There’s a Robin line like… there’s a Robin Easter Egg in Justice League. That I think you’ll have to wait and see. I can’t say exactly.” As to whether he would like to use Robin more in the DCEU, Snyder added: “Would there be a plan to have more Robin? Whatever the future story? There would be.”
Reading between the lines, Joker is probably just going to refer to what happened to Dick Grayson all those years ago, likely to taunt Batman when they cross paths in that desolate future.
Don’t count on those “Jared Leto’s Joker Was Robin!” theories unfold, however.
3. Why Zack Snyder was on board with an HBO Max version
Warner Bros. didn’t treat Snyder well, and there is clearly a lot more to this story than what we’ve learned.
As much Snyder wanted to share his Justice League cut off from the world, no one could fault Snyder for not wanting to be involved with the studio in any way after he had his film slaughtered by Whedon. So why come back and finish the #SnyderCut for their streaming platform, HBO Max?
“Toby Emmerich called me to say ‘Hey, is that something you’d be interested in doing?’ and I wasn’t ready, but I thought about it. One of the great things that made me say “very good” to this huge job, it’s crazy, but it was this commitment that I made to these actors, [so] let’s finish this, “ he explained. “Let me put it back. Let me honor what we talked about creating you know?”
Snyder made his wish come true and it even came out as a movie rather than a four-part miniseries.
2. Could Justice League 2 become a reality?
Snyder has an eye on the future and high hopes for some kind of continuation of this story.
Snyder says he’s spoken to voice actor Ray Porter about what’s next for Darkseid, and it looks like the filmmaker is plotting … something.
“What happens when Darkseid comes to Earth? So what? You know, is that a thing? And I think, listen, the truth is, I wrote and had and designed one. .. do I know what happens when Darkseid … yes. I know what happens, “ he revealed. “Saying and speculating on what it is and what it would be exciting, I think that’s a good thing.”
If the #SnyderCut sends subscription numbers for HBO Max through the roof, then a sequel of some sort might not be out of reach. Don’t count on it, however.
1. Zoom was (correctly) used for flash scenes
Much of what Snyder had planned for the Flash wasn’t part of Whedon’s cut, and it’s likely that Justice League will discuss the concept of time travel. If these Vero messages are any indication, Barry Allen travels down memory lane after the team has been defeated by Steppenwolf and attempts to turn things around.
Snyder needed Ezra Miller for his covers, but it was complicated by the actor being in London to work on Fantastic beasts 3.
COVID means Snyder and Miller couldn’t be in the same room at the same time, so a solution was found: Zoom. Snyder sent the crew of Fantastic beasts 3 a few sketches of what he needed from Miller for these covers, and three monitors were then set up that the filmmaker could see through his computer (showing the set, Miller, and the camera).
Ingenious, eh?
