Huawei has unveiled the latest update of the user interface of its smartphone, which should appear on the next Android devices Q. The owners of the current flagship series P30 will be the first to try EMUI10, available in beta from of September 08th. New features include a "dark mode" for easier reading, lower battery consumption, and increased support for interoperability with other devices.

Huawei said the update will help connect its smartphones with other devices. For example, smartphone users receiving a video call will be able to answer the call via a smart speaker. They can also share content on the smartphone screen with a computer, by dragging and dropping to transfer documents or applications to the PC screen. Any communication between devices enjoys end-to-end data security, the company added.

EMUI10 will also come with a more uniform developer framework. This will allow developers to more easily transfer applications to different devices without major changes.

After the P30 series, EMUI10 will be deployed on Huawei's Mate20 smartphones, Huawei announced at its recent developer conference. The company also confirmed that the Mate 20 Pro would receive Android Q. The next edition of the Mate series, expected to be released later this year, will come with the EMUI10 version installed, Huawei said.

Huawei said that more than 500 million devices were using its EMUI interface each day. Since the initial launch of the user interface in 2012, 79% of users have switched to EMUI8 and 84% to EMUI9. Huawei expects more than 150 million users to switch to EMUI10.
