Jessie Majome, outgoing parliamentarian of Harare West, officially acknowledged her defeat to the new parliamentarian of the young Alliance of the MDC, Joana Mamombe, in the elections held on Monday.

Majome avoided meeting Mamombe in the party's primary elections, a decision that forced her to run in national elections as an independent.

"Dear Westerners in Harare, the ZEC has announced the results and I congratulate Ms. Joana Mamombe for being elected MP for Harare West," Majome writes on social media. "I wish him good luck."

"A big thank you to those who supported and voted for me Thank you Harare West for the honor of serving you, it was a pleasure," she added.
