MASHPEE, Mass. – A single vehicle accident on Great Oak Road in Mashpee’s Quinn’s Way area late Saturday night resulted in two people being hospitalized.

The Mashpee Police Department said Boston 25 News officers were first alerted to the crash around 10:23 p.m. Upon arrival, they observed a black Range Rover, which was severely damaged on the passenger side after having hit a tree.

Upon further investigation, officers believe the Range Rover was heading east on Great Oak Road and failed to negotiate a turn, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle before colliding with the tree.

The male passenger was sent to Falmouth Hospital, but was later sent via MedFlight to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston with life-threatening injuries. The driver was sent to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

The accident is still under investigation by the Mashpee Police Department, Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office and the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council’s Post-Crash Reconstruction Unit .
