The iPhone 13’s camera is an improvement over the version used in the iPhone 12 Pro, according to a new DxOMark review, matching the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s score for its imaging capabilities.
In September, DxO reviewed the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max cameras, their rating placing Apple’s latest models at the top of its smartphone ranking. Posted Friday, its iPhone score 13 places the model in the top five of the devices in the ranking.

The review itself is shorter than usual, as DXO considers the iPhone 13’s camera to be almost identical to the iPhone 13 mini’s system, which it previously reviewed in its entirety.
The score of 130 for the iPhone 13 places it tied with the iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max, and two points ahead of the iPhone 12 Pro. It sits in fourth place behind the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max at 137, and the “Asus Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders” at 133.
