4 immediate concerns of the Yankees: the slump of Luke Voit, the elbow of Gleyber Torres, more

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Here are four immediate concerns of the Yankees as the club heads for a home series against the Orioles starting Monday:

Luke VoitDrought: Quietly, Luke Voit has been the opposite of good lately. He is ruthless in his last 14 games, but to his credit, he made three goals in a 7-1 win over the Rays on Sunday night at Tropicana Field. Get this: It hits only 0.094 in May. Greg Bird (left planter tear) is not present. He does not have to worry about him. But Voit must pick it up.

Miguel Andujar, in general: Andujar has only three hits in his last 34 laps since retiring from the injured list with a labrum in the right ripped shoulder. That's enough for a batting average of 0.088. Now the question is whether Andujar is just rusty or if his right shoulder hurts him more than he admitted or weakens him until he becomes ineffective without his knowledge? The Yankees need to understand quickly. Yes, Gio Urshela was a dynamite substitute, but Andujar sucks like a DH.

Gleyber Torres'Elbow: An X-ray revealed no structural damage to Torres's right elbow after being hit by a fastball on Friday night. Then he played Saturday and we could see how bad he was. Torres made several grimace-worthy shots – any wrist, no arms, probably trying to protect his elbow. He seated on Sunday. How much time off does he need?

Gary SanchezThe head: Sanchez said he was fine Sunday morning after being hit Saturday night by a backswing. It's good. The fact that there was a Sunday afternoon game followed by a Saturday night match meant that Sanchez was not going to play Sunday, so he was away. But head injuries are tricky – ask Clint Frazier – and the Yankees will want to be very careful with Sanchez.
