A dinner at an upscale British steak restaurant has been mistakenly offering an extremely expensive bottle of wine, although you have ordered one that is worth a fraction of the price.
Hawksmoor, in Manchester, UK, tweeted about the incident, saying the customer had received a bottle of Château le Pin Pomerol 2001, priced at £ 4,500 – about 80,000 rand – on the menu .
"To the customer who accidentally received a bottle of Chateau Pin Pomerol 2001, or £ 4,500 on the menu last night – hope you enjoyed your evening!" the tweet said. "To the staff member who accidentally gave it up, looks up! Unique mistakes happen and we like you anyway."
The restaurant added a photo of the two wines in question – the Bordeaux that the customer ordered currently was worth £ 260 (R5 000).
"THEY ARE SIMILAR OK ?!" the tweet said.
According to the Independent, the Château le Pin Pomerol 2001 is under the "rarities" of the restaurant 's wine list.
"It was a very busy evening at the restaurant and a very simple mistake," said a Hawksmoor spokesman at the Independent. "The client did not know and only afterwards did one of the officials learn what had happened."
The tweet sparked a huge reaction on Twitter, with 50,000 retweets. One person responded by saying if they visit the UK, they hope to be served by the server that made the mistake.
"Congratulations and compliments to the management, who treated his employee as a human and for the excellent free marketing that made you instantly more famous", says another. "Great thing, keep going!"
However, others reacted with skepticism and pointed to the fact that Manchester has a large homeless population while the restaurant serves up to 80,000 rand.
In response, the restaurant said it had collected more than a million pounds for the charity for the homeless ActionAgainstHunger.
"To people who put homelessness in Manchester next to" £ 4500 wine ?! "and suggesting that we have no value: we have raised more than £ 1 million for @ACF_UK, we are working with @WoodSt_Mission and @notjustsoupMCR," he writes. "We have values."
