COLUMBIA, SC – To provide additional information before tomorrow, when people 70 and over can start making appointments to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, please see below.
- Starting Wednesday, January 13, people 70 and over can start scheduling appointments to receive COVID-19 vaccinations at locations currently accepting vaccine appointments.
- DHEC online map on scdhec.gov/vaxlocator will be live on Wednesday, January 13. This online map will show the locations currently accepting appointments for the COVID-19 vaccine and the map will provide the contact information for scheduling appointments at those locations. The card itself is not a way to make an appointment.
- Starting January 13, people can also call DHEC’s care line at 1-855-472-3432 for help locating contact details to make an appointment. The Care Line cannot make an appointment, but can help you provide the phone numbers of places that have vaccine appointments.
- Appointments must be scheduled; walk-in may not be able to receive the vaccine.
- At your appointment, you will be asked to provide a driver’s license or other form of identification confirming your age in order to receive the vaccine.
- Residency in South Carolina is not required to receive a vaccine.
- The appointment telephone line for each location can operate at different times of the day. This is not determined by DHEC.
- South Carolina, like all states, currently has a limited supply of the COVID-19 vaccine. Some places that offer vaccines may not have an appointment available for several weeks, depending on their vaccine supply. Facilities receive doses of vaccine weekly from the federal government.
- Individuals are encouraged to plan their second shot as soon as possible. It is important that individuals receive both doses of the same brand of vaccine to ensure that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
