A 94-year-old New York couple look to a bright and happy married future once they receive their coronavirus shots.

As the coronavirus separated most people, Joy Morrow-Nulton and John Shults became inseparable, their relationship flourishing during the pandemic.

“I can’t wait to get married to my wonderful wife,” Shults told Spectrum News. “She’s wonderful, cute, smart.”

Now that each of them has received their immunizations, they are eager to plan their wedding.

New York State Senator Michelle Hinchey (D-Saugerties) presented them with a certificate to honor their trip.

Their families are also delighted.

“We were just saying we remembered that,” said Emily Loughran, Shults’ granddaughter. “It was touching because we’ve been so careful with them and how important it is to get the vaccine, and you also know what that means for everyone around them.

The couple who are on the verge of tying the knot are also eager to step into life with a little less weight on their shoulders.

“To be able to not be afraid wherever we go, although we will be careful,” Morrow-Nulton said.

The New York State Department of Health reported that 13.9% of the population of New York State had received at least one dose of the vaccine.
